Hardware

This list shows the parts I have used in various implementations of the carputer, with the most recent revisions being at the top of the list. I have them laid out in a pretty straightforward manner for those of you who like my ideas and want to replicate them for their own PERSONAL use. If you sell my ideas, I'll find you and you won't like what happens after that. I'm crazy, ya know!

I have the columns set up as such: An image of the part, a brief description with links to more extensive info where it's needed, and then what the part cost me and where I got it from. "N/A" means I already had the part. Most of the photos are clickable and will open a new window with larger photos and/or seperate pages with several images and more detailed information for that item.

Screen Screen: Hosiden CTFT model HLD1026-026110. Color TFT LCD panel capable of 640x480 (plenty for in-car use IMHO). According to the auction description, it measures about 9" x 7" so it won't fit in the stereo opening. Not sure where I'm gonna mount it yet but I can't block the airbags, vents, or anything else... and I'm not sure how long I can run its cable... I have a feeling it's gonna end up in the glovebox area since that's near where the motherboard will be (behind the glovebox). But if the dimensions are right, and I can run the cable that far, I'm gonna try to mount it on the passenger side visor. Can't put it in front of my rearview mirrors - the sunroof motor would probably kill the LCD pabel. Maybe I'll have it flip up from the dashboard. Then my only concern is that it'll be in direct sunlight... *sigh* the woes of engineering... $Cost
