Oct 19, 2005 - Part 2: Bugs in the System
OK, so it's not a real bug per se... I showed the site to some friends. One pointed out that since i specified my menu width in pixels instead of em's, people like him who use larger fonts will get a scroll bar for the menu itself. Yuck. So when I get time again, I'll play with that. I think 12-14em should be wide enough. Really, that seems to be the only big hiccup in the web design so far. Not bad for a first try, if i don't say so myself.

In the actual carputer department... I'm still trying to source parts and figure out how I'm gonna control this puppy. Looking for buttons and stuff, since the final faceplate design will determine what other hardware i need to buy, and what software i'll need. I'll keep that stuff to the build diary tho.
Oct 19, 2005 - Brand Spankin' New Site!
Welcome to the all-new website. content will come in waves, as time permits. i am learning CSS, and it's taken me 2 very long nights to get from this to what you see here. The only things I reused from the old site is a couple small graphics, like the mp3car license plate i made ages ago. it's a kind-of steep learning curve, but i can tell that it's got way more power than i originally thought, and once i get used to it, designing the site will not only be easier (no more tables inside tables inside tables inside tables ad nauseum!) but faster and simpler too. look at the source of this page and compare it to the source of that link above!

Now... if the layout looks a little funky, PLEASE Email me and let me know what browser/client (including version), OS, and screen resolution you're using, and I'll see what I can do. a screenshot of the problem would really help, esp if you're on a mac or linux, since I run win2kpro. your input will help me learn cross-browser/cross-platform quirks, as well as css in general. thanks!
